We are three amateur filmmakers and musicians who are working on a fun project, and need some help from like-minded folk.
In November 2008 South Park aired an episode called "The Ungroundable." Long-story-short, the episode ends with the Goth Kids burning down Hot Topic. For this sequence the South Park folks wrote a faux-Goth song called "Burn Down Hot Topic." If you've ever been into Goth music, as we all were/are, it was really, really, great.
So we wrote a couple additional verses and re-recorded the song. You can download a the results here. We're pretty proud of it. So we're making a music video for our version of the song!
And now, WE NEED HELP! In the video, our two singers will be singing the song in various mall settings (including obviously Hot Topic). With each of the four verses, their "posse" that skulk behind them grows. For instance, in the Home Depot scene we imagine goths in the background admiring power tools in a romantically forlorn manner. This all culminates in a show-stopping Dance Sequence, modeled roughly after Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation video from 1990. Our vision is that it will turn out something like this: ... except that instead of Janet & Co. in a factory, it will be our goth friends in a mall. So we need volunteers to dance and an extra-special volunteer to choreograph because we don't know anything about choreography. The time commitment is just a Saturday afternoon. Throw on your corset and come on by!
